Post Production Report for Ident 2: Breakfast
1. Post Production Process
In Post Production, I edited my original footage of my idents on Final Cut Pro. I then uploaded the draft and gained audience feedback. From the audience feedback, I was able to identify improvements for my idents such as adding music and a voiceover. I then completed my final idents and exported them as a Master File and uploaded them to YouTube.2. Post Production Sound
When looking for music, I used YouTube as there is a large amount of copyright free upbeat music. After finding the right music for my breakfast ident, I converted it to an mp3 file using a YouTube converter. I then imported it onto final cut and trimmed it down. I then started to record my voice over which would be used to announce the next show on the channel, on GarageBand using a USB microphone. Once I had done this I imported it onto my project on final cut. Then I lowered the music when the voiceover was being played so that it could be heard by the audience.3. Post Production Editing
First, I imported all of the footage and put it in order. Then I added the cross dissolve transition in between clips to make the ident flow. After, I used the colour board to increase the brightness and make the pancakes look more vibrant and appealing to the audience. Finally, after adding sound to the ident, I added the food network logo using Adobe Photoshop to change the background to green. I then imported this into final cut and used the keying tool to make the background disappear so that the audience would still be able to see the background when the logo appeared on screen.

2. Post Production Sound
I searched for copyright free festive Christmas music on YouTube to match my Christmas food themed ident. Once I found one that matched my ident, I converted it to an mp3 file using a YouTube converter website. Then I imported it into my project on Final Cut Pro. I also added a voiceover by recording on Garage band with a USB Microphone. This was added to the end of the ident as a continuity announcement where the audience would be able to identify what programme would be coming up next on food network.

3. Post Production Editing
I used several editing techniques to improve the quality of my ident.
Some of the shots that I took on the camera were dark. So I used the colour board on final cut to colour correct the footage and make the Christmas food look more tasty and attractive.
To transition from one shot to the next, I used the dissolve transition on the bottom right corner of final cut. This allowed the ident to flow naturally. This would also make it look less obvious that editing has been done.
To add the Food network logo at the end of the ident, I placed the logo on Adobe Photoshop and changed the background to green. I then saved it and imported it onto Final Cut Pro where I used the Keying effect to hide the green background. This meant that when the food network logo appeared on the ident, you would still be able to see the background of the food.

Analysis of Audience Feedback
In my questionnaire, I asked questions about whether the ident reflects food networks channel, what they liked, what could be improved, and their thoughts on the ident and its themes.
Feedback on Ident 1: Christmas
Majority of the audience liked the visuals of the ident such as the camera shots and montage of the food. However, all of them said that to improve my ident, I should add music (such as festive songs) and a voiceover which tells the audience what is coming up next on food network. Furthermore, some also suggested that I add the food network logo at the end of the ident to tell the audience what channel they are watching.
Most of them said that the ident reflects food networks channel and appeals to the target audience. Therefore, I will not need to drastically change the ident. The audience identified that the ident was Christmas themed and said that it should be aired during December/Christmas period.
Based on the audience feedback from the questionnaires, I will add festive music, a continuity announcement using a voiceover, and the food network logo. I will also further improve the visuals of the ident to improve its overall quality.
Feedback on Ident 2: Breakfast
The audience liked the montage of the pancakes, the variety of close up shots and the flow of transitions from one clip to the next. They also liked how food was used in the ident to represent food network, as the channel is based on food and cookery. However, they suggested that I add music, a voiceover, and the channels logo to improve my ident and enhance its quality.
The audience identified that it was a breakfast ident which would be aired in the mornings as pancakes are usually eaten at breakfast. Furthermore, they believed that the ident would appeal to food networks target audience as those who watch food network, will enjoy food such as pancakes. But, one person stated that the audience may like lunch/dinner dishes more as there are not many breakfast cooking programmes on food network.
Based on the audience feedback I obtained from the questionnaires, I will add music, a continuity announcement and the food network logo. The feedback gained from my second ident is also very similar to the feedback I gained from my Christmas ident. Therefore, this feedback helped me identify the areas that I need to improve on in both my idents.

Production Process for Ident 1 & 2
1. Food Network - Christmas Ident
I recorded the footage for my 30 second Christmas themed ident on Christmas day, as this was the day where all of the christmas food was made. Firstly, I set up my camera and tripod in the kitchen and made sure that everyone in the house was aware that I was recording so that there would be no issues with health and safety. I then looked at my storyboard that I created in pre-production and began to gather the resources/food that would be in the ident.
Firstly, I adjusted the camera's settings and made sure that the lighting and focus was how I wanted it to be. I then filmed several close-up shots of the christmas food such as mince pies, chocolate cake, turkey and roast potatoes. I also referred back to my storyboard throughout filming the ident so that I would not forget how I wanted the final product to look like. Whilst doing this, I made sure that people were careful when they entered the kitchen, to prevent any accidents or problems occurring. However, one health and safety aspect that I had to consider was that the knife used to cut the turkey was used carefully as it was very sharp, and that the person cutting it was not distracted from the camera.
Filming the Christmas Ident went well and there were no big issues that would heavily impact my ident. I was able to film in a very short period of time and the shots that I had drawn on the storyboard were executed. This allowed me to start the post-production process as planned in my production schedule and meet the final deadline. Furthermore, there were no health and safety issues as I made sure I followed my risk assessment and was aware of the environment I was filming in.
However, after recording my footage, I had realised that some of the clips I recorded were not as clear and high quality as I wanted them to be. Some of the footage was unclear as it would take me a very long time to focus on the subject and I was also not very experienced with the camera at this point. I could have also improved my footage by experimenting with the camera settings more, as there were many different settings that I could have used to enhance the quality of the image such as the food setting.
2. Food Network - Breakfast Ident
I recorded the footage for my pancake breakfast ident on the 6th January. First, I set up up my camera and tripod in the kitchen where I would be filming my pancake ident. I then added my ready made pancakes onto a plate and placed it in a white background so that it would stand out. Also, not making the pancakes from scratch saved a lot of time. I then recorded a few clips of the pancakes stacked up and added the chocolate sauce on top of the pancakes and recorded it whilst doing so. After I had finished making the pancakes, I filmed a variety of close up shots to make sure that the footage was the best quality possible.
When filming for my ident, I took Health and safety measures to ensure that there were no hazards which could cause accidents. I decided to film my ident when nobody else was at home, to ensure that there were no accidents such as tripping over the tripod. Overall, there were no health and safety issues that I came across when filming my ident as there were no objects that were harmful or unsafe.
Filming my breakfast themed ident went very well. I was able to set up the tripod and camera correctly and film the footage that I needed within 30 minutes, which allowed me to begin editing the next day. Furthermore, creating the pancakes for my food network ident was quick and easy. This meant that I would not need to re-record any footage, and could meet the deadline of producing my idents in time.
However, one thing I could have improved on during production was making sure that the camera was steady. Some of the footage that I recorded looked very shaky when watching it afterwards. This may be because when filming, I did not use the tripod to film some of the shots as the tripod was not long enough. This meant that the camera footage did not look very smooth.
Overall, the production process for both idents went mostly well, and I was able to use the footage for my final ident.
